FELIX DA HOUSECAT - Ready 2 Wear
Put rather simply, this is Holly Valance's last album if she had ever listened to French disco. Obviously this makes it one of the best things ever, certainly the best of the pop songs on Devin Dazzle & The Neon Fever.
It rides on an insistent, almost distracting bass tone, with synth pulses adding colour to the mix. And a subtle, but well formed hook: "Nothing I can tell you/You look good when you wear it well" underneath it all, mixed down low and treated, and it's not until this many-time repeated mantra actually stops that you notice the beat, which does that same tick-CRASH trick that
Silver Screen (Shower Scene) shocked and awed with when you first heard it, although it's not as brash and in-your-face, it's insidiously catchy instead, and there's an overall warmth to this song in contrast to SSSS's detached iciness.
